After Pakistan Super League (PSL) Governing Council Chairman Najam Sethi’s plan of including Kashmir as the sixth team in PSL’s third edition, Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi has gone one step further by expressing that players from “Indian Occupied Kashmir” should be given chance as well.
Javed , has been involved in promoting cricket in Dubai as well , The zalmi world cup was a huge success in dubai in which Indian Administered Kashmir team was also included, Kashmiri Zalmi ,Led my Mohsin Mutto (Kashmiri ) made it to the finals. This was the first ever international inclusion of full kashmiri cricket team on international soil playing any such tournament.
It should be mentioned here that the PSL’s first and second edition had five teams – Islamabad United, Quetta Gladiators, Peshawar Zalmi, Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings – and they were told that for two years no other team would be included.
However, there has been change of heart by PSL officials who now want to bring in another outfit to improve second edition.
Afridi has been campaigning on twitter regarding the idea of bringing Kashmir’s team.
“If PSL Mgt start a vote of confidence for another 6th Team in PSL.I’ll strongly recommend “Kashmir Team”soft msg to the world’s sports arena,” Afridi tweeted.
In another tweet he stated: “Simply we can open the Gates for the New Talent from Indian Occupied Kashmir where the spirit of One Kashmir Flag raises through continents. I also feel that the initiative shouldn’t b restricted 2 AJK,we shud find ways of incorporating cricketers from Indian occupied Kashmiris too.”
