Zaira has been recently in news for her incidents revolving Mehbooba Mufti and her recent accident while driving near famous Dal Lake.

Kashmir once known as the famous Bolly wood destinations has not produced much famous celebrities related to cinema. The reason could have been the unpredictably of the region and political disturbances which did not provide a feasible platform for younger artists to explore, which does not mean Kashmir does not possess talent.

Qazi Touqeer one of the first Kashmirs to touch the fame after winning the famous fame Gurukul on 20 October 2005  somehow got lost in the mist somewhere, his only movie Take off could not actually take off on time to put his mark in Indian Film Industry however Qazi has been seen doing Item Numbers and guest appearances on and off screen and also seen appearing on social media videos regularly.

Zaira Wasim seems intelligent beyond years. The 17-year-old student of a missionary school in Srinagar owes her new-found confidence after her successful first movie to her new acting stint in Bollywood. Zaira is now ready to be seen in her second movie “Secret Superstar” A film revolves around the life of a child who aspires to be a singer.

Their are many challenges in Kashmir especially for a girl to choose the glamour world. After initial resistance from her family, it was her aunt who supported her decision. “She asked my parents to give me a chance to realize my dreams,” she adds. “Like other Kashmiri parents, mine were concerned about what people would say. But my aunt handled the situation well.”

The decision did have its fallout, though. “A lot is said about me in the social media. But Aamir Khan and the rest of the crew supported me,” she says. “Eventually, I learnt not to pay attention to negativity,” she adds. “I realized you are as good as your thoughts and there was nothing I was ashamed of. I want to tell people that it’s a beautiful role about dignity and empowerment of women,” she adds.
